David's Torso
David's Torso made in the lost wax process. The torso is 10"x 5" x 3" with 10 pounds of lead crystal apricot glass. The Torso of David was made out of sculpey. A two-part rubber mold was made from the sculpey; a wax was poured into the two-part mold. The wax was invested in Castalot. The wax steamed out and the lead crystal glass melted into the mold. This is an ancient technique that began around 2500 BC.
